- Les Amis Travel to Natchez, MS for Mardi Gras 2015
In 1716, Sieur de Bienville established Fort Rosalie atop the bluffs of the Mississippi, making Natchez the oldest continuously occupied city on the Lower Mississippi. Yes, Natchez is even older than New Orleans – a fact most Natchezians won't let you forget!. Before the Civil War, vast fortunes were made in cotton and slaves and the "Nabobs of Natchez" erected sumptuous townhouses and palatial suburban villas. Today, the charming city contains one of our country's most impressive collections of 19th-century American architecture.
But the town hasn't forgotten its early French roots and every year, the citizens of Natchez celebrate Mardi Gras in grand style with parades, parties, and a grand ball. Join Les Amis as we venture "downriver" to "Natchez: Jewel of the Mississippi" and join in the celebrations.
